LU TA

With every action, an equal and opposite reaction always occurs: it means that the mutual actions of two bodies are always equal and directed in opposite directions. Isaac Newton An inelastic clash between two forces in opposite directions and opposite directions, A LUTA (from the Portuguese “The Fight”) shows two wrestlers in Mexican masks fighting through a kiss. The muscular and respiratory tension between both extremes alludes to the friction between the different perspectives on a reality that confronts them, one force seeks to dominate the other: left-right, blue or red, political tensions, armed conflicts, wars. In turn, this continuous struggle produces a bond, a common point that is maintained through their repressed oral expression. The union of two bodies produces a third body, which is in constant confrontation. The third body corresponds to an Intermediate State that operates as a system that is maintained with a minimum of entropy. The video, when kept in a loop, produces a moment of inertia that in turn is contrasted with the anaglyph effect that is generated in the brain of the viewer. This metaphor of transition outlines tensions that I have experienced and that are part of my migratory experience whose trajectory begins from Venezuela, passes through Mexico and continues in Portugal.

The Waste from the Barreiro industrial zone is a starting point in the construction of fragments of an idealized unreal city. What is the role of time if not to destroy symmetry? Integrating these pieces and simply doing nothing is one of the greatest acts of daring in these accelerated times of immediacy, once again, there is no originality or pretension whatsoever. Remnants of an immersive Portuguese road are found putting pressure on your footsteps from bottom to top….. nothing, listen to what’s inside you. What is behind the reflection of water in a bathtub?

Los Desperdicios de la zona industrial de Barreiro son un punto de partida en la construcción de fragmentos de una ciudad irreal idealizada. ¿Cuál es el papel del tiempo sino destruir la simetría? Integrar estas piezas y sencillamente no hacer nada es uno de los mayores actos de osadía en estos tiempos acelerados de inmediatez, una vez más, no hay originalidad ni pretensión alguna. Restos de una inmersiva calzada portuguesa se encuentra ejerciendo presión sobre tus pisadas de abajo hacia arriba….. Nada, escucha lo que hay en tu interior. ¿Qué hay detrás del reflejo del agua en una bañera?

Os Resíduos da zona industrial do Barreiro são um ponto de partida na construção de fragmentos de uma cidade irreal idealizada. Qual é o papel do tempo senão destruir a simetria? Integrar essas peças e simplesmente não fazer nada é um dos maiores atos de ousadia nestes tempos acelerados de imediatismo, mais uma vez, não há originalidade ou pretensão alguma. Restos de uma calçada portuguesa encontram-se exercendo pressão sobre os teus passos de baixo para cima….. Ouve o que está no teu interior. O que está por trás do reflexo da água numa banheira?
